August 21, 2009 I hope everyone had a marvelous summer. I want to update all of you on our continuing efforts to find the right Head of School for the Arthur I. Meyer Jewish Academy. We have reviewed more than 50 resumes (with more coming in), interviewed 10 candidates over the telephone and brought in five candidates to meet us face to face and tour the school. Our work has left us very impressed with the high quality of those who have dedicated themselves to the field of Jewish education. We look forward to continuing our review of resumes and scheduling additional interviews. To date, we have found that those Head of School candidates who present the most interesting possibilities for the Arthur I. Meyer Jewish Academy are under contract with other Jewish Day Schools through this school year. We are confident that our search will bear fruit, but it seems clear that a new Head of School will begin for our next school year rather than this one. We are fortunate to be dealing from a position of strength, with fabulous teachers and administrators which has allowed us to be choosy in our search. We have another telephonic interview this week and will be arranging more face to face interviews for early September (including follow up face to face interviews with several candidates we've already met in person). With the school year about to go into full motion we will provide additional e-mails and web postings to you as we progress in finding our next Head of School. Good luck to you and your children as they embark on their next phase of their educational journey. Roslyn Leopold
