Dear Meyer Academy Families,
I am delighted to be writing this letter, not only because it is my first letter as the new Headmaster of Meyer Academy, but also because we are only a few short weeks away from our first day back to school! There is a wonderful buzz and energy on campus these last few weeks as the anticipation and excitement for the upcoming year builds and preparations for our children’s amazing Meyer experience are put into place.
As a parent (of two Meyer children) I would also like to share that there is always the tension of having enjoyed such a wonderful summer with camps, vacations, and late curfews that making the transition back to the routine and structure of the school year can often be challenging. Because of this, I encourage you all to start “winding down” your children’s summer schedules and activities and begin to bring them back into “school mode”. I have learned over the many years of having done this, that a few moments of proactive investment in getting the children ready makes the most successful beginnings to the school year possible. We truly appreciate your partnership in achieving these critical successes right from the start of the school year.
Enclosed in the packet you will be receiving soon in the mail are letters from our general studies school principals, your child(ren)’s SAT scores from last year (if applicable), and a few flyers highlighting some of the great opportunities for you and the whole family to jump back into the Meyer community and catch up on what’s been going on these last few months. Our new K-8 Jewish Studies & Hebrew Principal, Mrs. Maya Scwartz, will also be sending a separate letter home once school starts highlighting a few of the curriculum updates and upcoming High Holiday programs and student life on campus. Like I said, we all can’t wait for the new school year to begin!
I look forward to hearing from our “veteran families” about your prior experiences, as well as look forward to hearing new dreams and hopes from our new Meyer families. Please feel free to contact me via phone or email, or if you happen to be on campus please stop by to say “Hi”.
May we go from strength to strength and help our children achieve their fullest potential.
Happy 2010-2011!
